The 13th annual Earth Day Charles River cleanup involves volunteers picking up trash at over 100 different cleanup sites along the Charles River and its tributaries. More than 3,000 volunteers are expected at the Odwalla-sponsored event, and each volunteer can expect to receive a commemorative t-shirt, cleanup supplies (including gloves and trash bags) and Odwalla Bars to keep them satisfied and focused on improving the health and beauty of the Charles River.

The family friendly event is open to the public, and individuals are welcome to show up on Saturday, no reservation needed, at any of ten different drop-in sites. The full list of drop-in sites can be found here. Check-in time is 9 am, and the event ends at noon.

Can’t make it to the event? You can still support the environment in Boston by voting for one of the four Boston-area projects nominated in Odwalla’s Plant a Tree program. The 10 projects with the most votes will be awarded a $10,000 grant to purchase new trees to be planted this fall. Voting is free and runs through May 30 at With enough votes, all four projects in the Boston-area could end up receiving grants!
