The Boston Harbor Islands, just a quick 15 minute ferry ride from downtown Boston, are a great place to visit with the family.  Kids just love taking a boat, and when you get to the island, there are lots of family-friendly activities to enjoy. Here are just a few of the activities going on this summer:

Youth Yoga – Spectacle Island, Thursdays, June 30th – August 18th 10:30am A creative and fun beginner’s yoga session on beautiful Spectacle Island that uses animated poses and basic stretching exercises promote strength, flexibility, coordination and body awareness. Youth Yoga will also promotes inner-strength, confidence and self-esteem; a feeling of well-being and respect for others; and, love for one’s self, inside and out, all on the beautiful Boston Harbor!

Family Fitness Day – Georges and Spectacle Islands, Saturday, July 16th 10:30am – 3:00pm. As a part of “Let’s Move Outside!” Junior Ranger, the islands will host a full day of family fitness programs encouraging families to get moving outside, together.  Activities will include running, swimming, kite flying, hiking, boot camp calisthenics, yoga, martial arts, and Zumba. 

Toe Jam Puppet Band, June 28 and July 31, Georges Island, 12:00 & 2:00pm. Back by popular demand! These performances are very active, encouraging kids and parents to sing and dance along with the band as they entertain with a unique combination of original songs, masterful shadow puppetry, storytelling and just plain old good fun.

Krafty Kids, Spectacle Island, July 7th, August 4th and Georges Island July 21st and August 18th 11:00am – 1:00pm. Using inspirations of the islands’ stories and themes, kids will create recycled art masterpieces.  All you need is your imagination!

Plays In The ParkGeorges Island, Fridays, 11:45am & 1:30pm. From creative variety shows, to lively musicals and enchanting storytelling, these plays actively engage children’s minds and bodies, leaving them with an expanded sense of their imagination.

Toddler Tuesdays, Spectacle and Grape Islands, Spectacle Island 10:30 – 11:30am and Grape Island 11:00 – 12:00pm. Little ones can enjoy nature walks, arts and crafts, storytelling and much more. Curious toddlers will engage in nature and all the beauty the islands have to offer, all while making new friends!
