The most famous Boston event for St. Patrick’s Day is the parade. The St. Patrick’s Day parade in ‘Southie’ is one of the oldest, biggest and most raucous of all the parades celebrating the Irish in the U.S. This year, it is scheduled for Sunday, March 18th, starting at 1 p.m. Crowds are large. The parade attracts as many as one-half million if the weather is warm, so plan to get your spot early. Starting at the “T” stop at West Broadway, the parade winds its way through the most Irish of neighborhoods in Boston. You’ll see bagpipers, dancers, musicians, floats and representatives of all the 32 counties of Ireland.
