I have such wonderful childhood memories of June strawberry picking, and the truth is, there is nothing like the taste of a native strawberry that has just been picked. Once you try it, you realize the out-of-state versions we get year round are just poor substitutes.
On this beautiful Saturday morning, my family just headed out for some strawberry picking of our own, at the Strawberry Festival at Land’s Sake farm in Weston. The festival is over, but there’s still plenty of strawberry picking to be had.
Check out some of these places:
Belkin Lookout Farm. Lookout Lane. Natick.
It’s not cheap, since you have to pay for the train and for admission, but Belkin’s Lookout Farm definitely is more than just strawberry picking.
Connors Farm. 30 Valley Rd Rt 35. Danvers.
Kimball Fruit Farm. 184 Hollis Street. Pepperell.
Rogers Spring Hill Farm. 1269 Boston Road, Ward Hill. Haverhill.
Russell Orchards. 143 Argilla Road. Ipswich.
Sunshine Farm. 135 Kendall Ave. Framingham.
Come for the strawberry picking, but stay for the homemade ice cream.
Verrill Farm. 11 Wheeler Road. Concord. 978-369-4494.
Don’t miss the huge farm stand, with made-to-order sandwiches and delicious desserts.
Ward’s Berry Farm. 614 South Main Street. Sharon.
